Final Cake Project

This is the last cake I made in my final cake class tonight. It received 2nd place in the contest!

I wish I had a better picture, but we took several and now our fancy expensive camera is not working. Luckily, before Mark ate a slice, he had taken a picture of it with his phone!

Week 26

That is my thumb and not a weird looking belly button poking out of my dress!
After looking at the picture Mark took, I made the comment, "It looks like I have a butt in the front AND the back!" He laughed. I said, "Look for yourself!" He said, "I don't need to see it on the camera, I see it all of the time, babe!"

Week: 26

Total weight gain/loss: I really don't know. We don't even have a scale at home. I guess we will find out at the doctor this coming week, but that will be in the Week 27 post!

Sleep: I have been having a hard time sleeping for several weeks now. However, a couple of days this past week, I slept amazing! One night, I even went to bed before Mark did!

Best moment this week: Thursday I had a strange spark of energy and got up around 10, got all dressed, and was out the door SHOPPING by 11! It was like I was NORMAL again! lol I say that because that is usually what goes on during the summer for me. This summer, I have done much more shopping online.

While shopping, I came across some of my favorite candles: Tyler Candle's Limelight scent. This has been my very favorite candle and smell for quite some time, however, I recently made the big switch to Scentsy warmers for two reasons: 1) I am deathly scared of fire and lighting a candle has always been quite a task for me, and 2) I kept noticing the black smoky residue all over the house from burning candles.

Since I made this big switch to Scentsy, I have been without my Limelight scent for a long time....UNTIL NOW! I FINALLY found that Tyler Candle Co. is making "mixer melts" (basically scentsy warmers and the little cubes of wax for them)! This means, I can use my Scentsy warmers and have my favorite smell again!!

Even bigger excitement: The little packs of wax are only $1.99!!!!! They are the same size as the Scentsy cubes, but WAY cheaper!!!! Just google, and order these puppies online!

Baby Movement: I have felt much more movement. I kept wondering why I would only feel a good punch or kick one at a time, but now I can feel much more movement going on and more little kicks happening in a row!

Food cravings: Those big pretzels at the mall. I have yet to get one, though. Mark needs to get more on-top of going and getting me things like that at the drop-of-a-hat, don't you think?

Anything make you queasy or sick? The smell of taco meat! Not sure why now, but this past week, I can't even smell tacos, or think about making them!

Have you started to show yet?: Are you kidding. I started showing as soon as I found out I was pregnant!

Leakage: Yep! Started at 20 weeks, but my little LilyPadz have worked very well!

Labor signs: Not that I know of

Belly button In or Out: Still an innie, thank goodness!

Wedding ring On or Off: I can still wear it, which surprises me because I had to put my TTU ring in the jewelry box a few weeks ago! :(

Happy or Moody most of the time: This week? MOODY! I start crying randomly and I'm not even sure why I am crying.

Milestones: Hmmm... I guess not!

Weekly Wisdom: O.K., when I found this little questionnaire to fill out for each week, I liked it, but I think I am going to make changes. This week, I will change the "Weekly Wisdom" to "Weekly Baby Purchase" because that is much more interesting to me! I am always buying things for Dylan and myself, and I might as well share what I am finding, so here it is:

Weekly Baby Purchase(s):

Giant stuffed giraffe for Dylan's room

(I'm thinking about getting a giant elephant and lion, as well. Mom says to wait and see if the giraffe looks lonely in the room by himself. How could the giraffe NOT look lonely all by himself??? lol)

LatchOn breastfeeding cover

(You just clip this on any blanket you're using to cover yourself when feeding, instead of buying one of those silly big "hooter hider" apron things)

I got on a "book kick" this week and wanted all sorts of books for Dylan. The reason I really bought these three was because I was asking Mark the other night if we ever got lightening bugs here in Lubbock. He told me that we didn't and he has actually never seen one in person. I was shocked! It made me think of the Firefly book by Eric Carle and how they all light-up at the very end. So, I really bought the book for Mark. I know they aren't real, but it made me think of the cute book and had to get it. Then, of course, I had to purchase more than one to get my order high enough to get free shipping!!! So, I got the book Little Boy because Christina reccommended it, and I got the Peek-A-Boo board book because it was my favorite book when I was little! I think I will put the rest of the books I want on Dylan's Christmas list!

All registered!

I've actually had quite a few people asking me if we have registered for baby items yet. We have!
Everyone is more than welcome to go ahead and check them out, and hey, you can purchase things from them if you are feeling generous! lol

I am guilty of snooping on other people's registries to see what they have picked out and it helps me get ideas for things I may want, too. I have also spent hours and hours researching the best products for our Dylan and us by checking consumer reports on all items and reading all reviews that people have left for things.

Anyway.. have a look if you want to:

(This is basically all of the nursery decor)

(Just had to register here because, well... it's Target.)

(This is one of the only places that has the specific highchair we want)

Week 25

I only spent 2 full days in bed this week! It's getting pretty old. There is only so much you can watch on T.V. or look at online.

Mark has been reading books to Dylan every night. So far his (Mark's) favorite is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. I made fun of him because it sounded like a mix between a country-boy and a rapper trying to read the story.

We also celebrated our niece, Karli's, 1st birthday this weekend! She was quite the little princess! We love her!

We are also very blessed to have family (Thanks Juli!) pass on their wonderful baby items they are no longer using to us for Dylan. He is already a very spoiled baby, as he should be! Even though all of these things are for Dylan, Chiko seems to think that EVERYTHING for the baby is for her right now. She spends all nap and sleep time in the cradle in our room and loves to hangout in the car seat, too. Here is her new favorite spot....

Chiko in the baby bath tub.

1st cookies

Ok, these aren't the first cookies I've ever made. They are, however, the first cookies I've tried to make look all fancy.

I've never tried to actually "flood" icing and whatnot, but I tried today. I like looking at the cute little things, but they sure are a pain in the you-know-what to get all of those icing bags and colors, etc. mixed up. I do have to give credit to my husband for trying to help me, too. He likes trying to make "his own" designs, however, those end up in the trash and not pictured because his "designs" aren't the most creative, or... cute?? He did fill in the pink petals on the flowers for me because it was hurting my hand squeezing so much and he did a good job!

My 1st cake

Not too bad. Hopefully, I will get better!!

2 years and counting...

Today was our 2nd wedding anniversary. It started off with presents...

Mark's new Burberry sweater
(maybe our new tradition needs to be something Burberry every year! ;) ha.)

Mark's "painted" canvas
I saw this saying. Thought of Mark. Got a huge canvas. Painted it on.
Hardest thing I've ever made. Do not try this.

The inside of Mark's card to me. It reads:

A Day Full of Fun
1. Starbucks
2. Nails
3. Movie
4. Eat
5. Bookcases (eventually)

Love you babe,

Dead cotton plant Mark gave me.
For those of you that don't know, you are supposed to give "cotton"
as your 2nd wedding anniversary gift. He took this literally.

P.S. This "cotton farmer" killed the cotton. Hmmm.

Our fancy feet
We got Starbucks, then pedicures.

Then, we went to the movies and saw Eclipse. I had to pee terribly and refused to get up and go during the movie in fear that I might "miss something". I looked like a kid, having to stop and then walk a few steps crossing my legs to get to the restroom when it was over.

Of course we had to go get a free slurpee on 7/11!
(Yes, we look like trash. Don't ask.)

No, we do not want to be hippies... we were holding up the
number 2 for our 2nd anniversary.

Pregnancy Questions Answered...

I have had many people asking how I am feeling and how my pregnancy is going. I have avoided answering them, but here it goes:

The beginning of my pregnancy was completely easy, to our surprise. No morning sickness or anything, which was great! Of course, I was extremely tired all of the time and felt like I was a human balloon, just swelling and swelling. I have come to look more pregnant, instead of overly puffy now, which is a good feeling, except when everyone asks when the baby is due and when I tell them "The end of October," they look at me with big eyes. I know what they're thinking. Yes, I look huge. I keep telling myself over and over that it is alright because I am barely 4'11''!

A lot has changed in the past couple of weeks. I am sure this could be TMI (too much information), so if you don't care, you can stop reading this.

After buying a ton of new maternity clothes (thanks, mommy!) I had noticed a swelling happening down there. My first instinct was an allergic reaction to the new shorts that I had been wearing that I had not yet washed. It got worse... and worse. It became bad enough that Mark insisted I call the doctor and let them check me out since I could barely walk. When they were pretty persistent about "fitting me in" that day, I figured I better let them take a look. When I was there, the look on the doctor's face was not a good one. It made me more worried than I really was. She had good news, and bad news. The good news: it was no infection and nothing to worry about going wrong with the baby. The bad news: it will NOT go away, and it will get worse.

Solution: I had to order a v2 support. I have never heard of this, and basically, it is a jock strap for pregnant women. Let the humiliation begin. I have to wear this most uncomfortable support all day, every day, except when I sleep.

I am not allowed to lift anything. I can supposedly go about my normal daily activities as long as I am wearing my support, however, we have noticed that when I have done that, the swelling becomes unbearable and I wind up being in bed all day the following day with an ice pack down there. I know, it's attractive.

There is not a name for this "condition", but maybe there is and I just have not been told it. Basically, I am very small and there is no room for the baby. He is putting a lot of weight on my uterus, which causes all of the swelling and pain. The doctor said she does not want to technically place me on "bed rest" because I am only 6 months pregnant and I need to try and do my best while wearing this support. However, there have been many times when I am going about doing normal things at home, such as cleaning, cooking, etc., and my instinct is telling me I need to be laying in bed. Luckily, I have time to lay around in bed because I have the summer off, but that will soon change as the new school year is quickly approaching, and I am nervous as to how my body is going to handle all of this.

As of right now, if you look at the time I posted this, it has been "normal" that I stay awake very late at night. I am either very uncomfortable and cannot sleep, or just not tired, because I have been laying around the whole day. My typical bedtime has been at about 2:30A.M. and I sleep until about 11:30 or 12, which needs to change!

24 weeks / 4th of July

I am quite nervous about all that has happened to my body in the past couple of weeks and it brings all sorts of worry and questions that bother me. If this is the worst it gets, I suppose I am lucky. Until then, I will continue to try and take it easy as I watch Mark complete his "Honey-Do List" that our doctor made me make for him. He was thrilled. ;)

Pregnancy Favorites

Thought I would make a list of all the favorite items I have used/worn during pregnancy. I wish someone would have made a list for me!

1. Lilypadz

I ended up leaking starting at 5 months and when I went to buy some washable pads to put in my bra, I came across these. Only $20. You can wash them with soap and water and they stick right to you. You can even wear them with no bra, with sun dresses, or to bed to be more comfortable! I bought mine at Target!

2. GAP Maternity jeans with a Demi panel

Living in Lubbock, I was pretty much stuck to buying maternity clothing from Target, Motherhood, or Old Navy. When Mom and I found a Gap that had a maternity section in Dallas, I fell in love. I have been wearing the full panel jeans and every time we washed them, the elastic started coming out and wrapping around everything! When I wear the GAP maternity jeans and shorts, it doesn't feel like I am pregnant anymore!! My clothes feel normal and I am not constantly tugging them up every time I take two steps. Buying their pants was one of the greatest days!!

3. Palmer's Cocoa Butter - FRAGRANCE FREE!
I couldn't stand the smell of the cocoa butter when I put it on. I think it was because my nose was just picking up scents times 10! I ended up having to order this lotion from Amazon because I couldn't find it in any of the stores, but it was well worth the shipping charge and didn't make me feel queasy after putting it on!

4. Target Maternity tank tops by Liz Lange, $9.99

I was buying the plain tank tops from Old Navy to put under my denim jackets and baggy shirts, but when I grabbed one at Target one day, it was much cheaper and fit more "normal". The straps are thinner and look much better than some of the maternity ones I have found!

5. Target Up&Up Brand Prenatal & DHA pills

Never made me feel sick and really cheap!

6. Old Navy maxi dresses
I bought these is every color I liked and they don't even have to be from the maternity section. Why? I just cut the bottoms of them off for how tall I am and you can't even tell because they brush the floor and roll up naturally. Wearing these long sun dresses was much more comfortable than anything else most days!

7. Lullabelly

OK, I thought these were really stupid when I saw them in a magazine, but when I got to about 20 weeks pregnant, I was wanting to find a way to play music for the baby and let's face it, normal plastic headphones don't fit around a pregnant belly. When I started looking for these music systems, I originally wanted the really expensive Ritmo one by Nuvo, but I didn't want to pay $130 for this silly device. I did some research and found this one for only $55. Mines green, It's fun!
